Lasers have the capability to:
- Perform minor gum surgery without the need for needles, resulting in little or no bleeding or stitches, being able to eat, drink and talk right after surgery with no discomfort. These procedures can include-gingivectomies, minor gingival recontouring and thinning, removal of fibrotic tissue, frenectomies, and palliative treatment of aphtous ulcers and fever blisters.
- Sterilize gum tissue in conjunction with non-surgical periodontal therapy (deep cleaning)
- Perform soft tissue biopsies with little more than topical anesthesia
