Veneers

Porcelain veneers are extremely thin casings of ceramic that are bonded to the front of the patient's tooth to create a new smile. Porcelain veneers are placed over the front of teeth that appear too small or large, slightly discolored, or simply are not cosmetically pleasing to the patient. For many patients, teeth may have chipped, become discolored, or are slightly crooked. For the majority of these patients, porcelain veneers can prove to be the perfect solution.

When placing porcelain veneers, we pay close attention to the patients surrounding teeth and design each veneer to complement the overall smile. The result is a beautiful, attractive new smile.

If cared for properly, your veneers will last you a long time. Dr. Wineman only uses the most durable porcelain materials available.

Procedure

Prior to any treatment Dr. Wineman recommends that a set of diagnotic casts be made from full arch impressions. These casts are sent to our premier local dental lab to allow the technicians to create your new smile in wax that Dr. Wineman will use to evaluate the amount of preparation each tooth requires. An added bonus of the wax-up is to allow the patient to see the planned result prior to beginning ith the treatment. After anesthetizing the teeth and surround soft tissue, Dr. Wineman begins the preparation of the tooth/teeth. He carefully removes the discolored or unsightly portion of the tooth and meticulously shapes the tooth using the diagnostic wax-up and operative template as a guide. After preparing the tooth/teeth, one of his assistants will placed a small piece of retraction cord,if needed, along the prepared margin. The assistant will make you a plastic temporay to wear while the lab is custom fabricating your beautiful new veneers. After waiting a few minutes, Dr. Wineman will removed the retraction cord and syringe impression material around the prepared teeth and follow that with a closed mouth full arch impression (about 5 minutes of total time). This impression will be sent to our premier local lab where your new restorations will be expertly crafted. Our assistants are highly skilled and competent professionals who work diligently to make temporary restorations which wiill resemble your new smile so that you can continue with your daily life without worrying about how your smile looks. Again the diagnostic wax-up is used as a guide to making the temporary restorations. As with any cosmetic case, Dr. Wineman uses this time in temporary restorations to critique and make any adjustments in the plastic temporaries to make the final makeover the smile you have deeamed of and wanted for a long time. Once you are thrilled with the result, a quick impression is made of the "perfected" temporay restorations. The reultant stone modle is sent to the lab to guide the final ceramic restorations.

Once your case has been hand delivered to our office, we will proceed with the placement of your final restorations. The veneers will be trial fitted onto the prepared teeth. You will be asked to evaluate the final result prior to cementation. Bonding veneers into place is a meticulous process. With all the steps required, Dr. Wineman is not foolish enough to trust his memory but instead pulls out and follows the manufacturer's written directions each and every time. The end result is that you will be thrilled with your gorgeous new smile
