August has come and gone, the children have headed back to school and the Labor Weekend is this weekend. What happened the summer?? As a reminder, our office will be closed from 2-6 September 2010 so that Dr. and Mrs. Wineman can travel to Napa, CA for the wedding of their middle child and eldest daughter. Please remain calm--Cheri will have pictures for all to see when we return. We will reopen on Tuesday 7 September @ 0730. We have many patients that work for the State of Nevada--correction officers, UNLV professors, and state employees. With the impending $2+ BILLION deficient looming over our state government, many newspaper articles have reported that there is a significant possibility that dental insurance benefits will be cut back to simply preventive care--an exam, x-rays and 2 cleanings a year with no additional coverage for anything else. We have recently sent out a e-mail campaign to alert our patients about this possible change and how it will affect them. Call us--ask for Caitlin--if you have any questions. Now may be the best time to get that work completed before your insurance "disappears. "
Ciera Stancil, one of Dr. Wineman's dental assistants, has been accepted into the Dental Hygiene Program at Mohave Community College in Arizona. Her last day will be 6 August 2010. We will miss her around our office but are thrilled she is headed back to school and has decided to stay within the dental profession. Ciera will be a great dental hygienist in 2 years. We are still trying to convince her to return to our practice when her education/training is complete. Time will tell. We wish her all the best!! We have selected a great replacement in Regalado "Reg" Malonzo. His first day within our practice is Wednesday 4 AUG 2010. When was the last time you visited your dentist? We are more than 2/3 of the way through the insurance year. Are you "sitting" on some insurance money that you could use to improve your smile, replace that broken filling, or get that bridge done? Our patients really enjoy receiving either the text message and/or email to remind them of their upcoming appointment. We continue to use the Concierge Service courtesy of the AGD Patient Alerts System. Our patients love it that not only do they receive a personal telephone call reminding them of their upcoming appointment, but they also get an reminder e-mail and/or text message too. By simply clicking on the reply button our patients can confirm their appointment with us. How cool is that? This service also sends out monthly newsletters and special announcements to our patients who have an email address on file with our office. The @DENTAL team realizes that many Las Vegans continue to struggle during these tough economic times. When money is tight, families' priorities often change and some luxury items simply are no longer possible. Please do not equate your dental health with a luxury purchase. Ignoring those little aches and pains and hoping they go away maybe a coping strategy. However it may just be your body's way of telling you something is not quite right. Waiting until you have a severe toothache or swelling to visit our dental office usually leads to even larger out-of-pocket expenses. While our financial policy remains unchanged, we are granting patients that want to have the comprehensive dentistry completed more time to pay their share.
